Westside Story: An Open House

Cue the music! I held a lovely cape-cod inspired house open and had such a nice time on Albuquerque’s Westside. Volcano ruins, blue skies, and Sondheim’s lyrics stuck in my head.

The Open house

I hosted this lovely cape-cod inspired home, located on Albuquerque’s Westside at 5105 Cordoniz Street NW, open this past Sunday. This great home is currently owned by a friend and co-worker who is actually leaving town and headed off to new adventures in Oregon. I was more than happy to help hold it open and make sure every one stayed safe and informed (all the while catching a Westside Story earworm–hence the title). The home itself was built in 1986, and has been loved and remodeled over the years. It boasts four bedrooms, two and half baths, and a balcony and backyard that looks out at the Petroglyph. It is close to I-40 and lots of Westside entertainment options. My favorites things to do in this part of town include:

  • The Petroglyph National Monument
  • La Cumbre Westside (Malpais Stout and Slice of Hefen are two of my faves)
  • Taylor Ranch Library/Park (this includes a nearby dog trail and nature path)
  • Flix Brewhouse (movies, dinner, sweets, and booze when it is open)

Visitor favorites

Every visitor during the open house seemed to thoroughly enjoy the home, with some of their favorites being:

The Layout

The home itself is smartly laid out in a traditional two-story manner. With all bedrooms up top with a gentle curved wood staircase leading the way up. The formal living and dining rooms shared space, but could easily be separated. The lower level has a simple flow that leads into each room. It is not a traditional “open concept” but definitely has an open, circular flow. No wasted space and lots of natural light. One of my absolute favorites was the wood burning fireplace in the family/entertainment room.

The Backyard

The yard is big, open, and green. There are wonderful mature trees, a dog pen, and raised beds (giving you lots of options for gardening). There is also a hot tub that was just installed last year that stays so you can enjoy sunsets, volcano ruins, and a good soak.

The Main Suite and Bathroom

Off on its own corner of the second floor is the main suite. Two large doors open into a huge bedroom with it’s own fireplace, balcony, and on suite bathroom with great modern touches. The bathroom includes both an oversized, long granite vanity with double sinks, a deep tub with matching granite surround, and walk in tiled shower.

I had a wonderful time over the weekend at this Westside cutie near the Petroglyph Monument. Are you interested in seeing it in person? Thinking of buying or selling in the area? Reach out today and let’s write the next chapter of your homeownership story!
